Frequently Asked Questions About Pool Tables
Clear answers to the questions customers most often ask about pool table moving, disassembly, slate, felt, cushions, levelling, pricing and preparation.
01How much does it cost to move a pool table?
A full-service pool table move within the city starts at $500. The final price depends on the table type and size, number of slate sections, pickup and delivery distance, stairs, access and any additional work required.
02Do pool tables need to be disassembled before moving?
Most slate pool tables should be professionally disassembled before they are moved. Separating the rails, felt, slate and frame protects the table and makes the heavy components safer to carry. We only disassemble the table as much as the access route requires.
03Can I move a pool table without taking it apart?
Moving an assembled slate pool table can damage the frame, slate seams, legs and levelling. It can also create a serious lifting risk. Proper disassembly is normally the safest method, although the exact approach depends on the table design and available access.
04Can you move a pool table up or down stairs?
Yes, in many situations. Stairs, corners, ceiling height and railing clearance must be assessed before the move. Sending us photos of the table and the complete access route helps us plan the correct crew and moving method.
05How heavy is a slate pool table?
A slate pool table commonly weighs several hundred pounds, with much of that weight concentrated in the slate. Larger commercial, coin-operated and snooker tables can be considerably heavier. The brand, size, frame construction and number of slate sections all affect the total weight.
06What is a three-piece slate pool table?
A three-piece slate table uses three fitted stone sections beneath the felt to create the playing surface. During setup, the sections must be positioned, levelled and joined carefully before the seams are sealed and the felt is installed.
07Can the existing pool table felt be reused?
Often, yes. Felt may be reused when it is in good condition and can be removed without excessive stretching, tearing or staple damage. If it is worn, stained, brittle or already damaged, installing new felt usually provides a better finish and playing surface.
08Do you supply and install new pool table felt?
Yes. We supply high-quality Championship Invitational pool table felt in a selection of colours. The felt itself is approximately $200, depending on the table size and colour, and professional refelting labour is $350.
09Why do you use beeswax on pool table slate?
Beeswax is used to fill and smooth the seams between slate sections after the table has been assembled and levelled. A properly sealed seam helps create one even surface beneath the felt.
10Does a pool table need to be levelled after moving?
Yes. Even a small difference in floor height or frame position can affect how the balls roll. We level the frame and slate during reassembly so the playing surface is flat and consistent.
11What are K55 and K66 pool table cushions?
K55 and K66 refer to different rubber cushion profiles used beneath pool table rail cloth. The correct profile depends on the table and rail design. We inspect the table, select the suitable cushion type and supply and install quality replacement rubber.
12How do I know when pool table cushions need replacing?
Common signs include weak or inconsistent rebound, unusually loud contact, hardened rubber or balls reacting differently from one rail to another. A cushion inspection can help determine whether the rubber or another part of the rail needs attention.
13Can you assemble and level a table that I transported myself?
Yes. If the table and all of its parts are already at the destination, we offer assembly and levelling for $250. Tell us the table size, number of slate sections and condition of the felt when requesting a quote.
14Do you move coin-operated pool tables?
Yes. Coin-operated tables are often heavier and constructed differently from residential three-piece slate tables. Removal starts from $600, with the final price based on the model, weight, stairs, access and destination.
15Do you move full-size snooker tables?
Yes. Full-size snooker tables are specialty moves and commonly have four or five very heavy slate sections. Pricing starts at $800 and depends on the table type, number of slates, distance, stairs, access and setup requirements.
16How should I prepare for a pool table move?
Clear personal items from the table and create an open route from the table to the exit. Please tell us about stairs, narrow turns, low ceilings or limited parking, and send photos of the table, entrances and access route before moving day.
17How long does a pool table move take?
The time varies according to the table, access, travel distance and whether felt or cushions are being replaced. Straightforward local moves are faster than jobs involving difficult stairs, long carries, large snooker tables or repair work.
18Which areas do you serve for pool table moving?
We provide pool table moving in Kitchener, Cambridge, Waterloo and nearby communities throughout Waterloo Region and Southwestern Ontario. Contact us with both locations to confirm availability and travel pricing.
